PROPER CARE FOR BEAUTIFUL BLONDES

“Going blonde is a daring move. It can be a bold look, for sure, but that’s not the half of it. It’s the upkeep that makes you think twice about hitting the bleach.

Whether you’re a seasoned blonde or a newbie, the thought of being estranged from your colourist can be harrowing for you and your hair.”

More Delicate.

The most important thing with blonde hair is to keep it healthy. “Lightening the hair can make it more fragile,” says Parisian hairdresser Hovig Etoyan. “When you’re at home, follow your Blond Absolu routine recommended for your hair type.”

That means daily care with a Blond Absolu shampoo and conditioner, plus
the occasional hair mask to keep the fibers strong and supple. There’s
a nourishing, brightening routine for every type of blonde.

Protect.

Etoyan cautions faux blondes about styling. “Heat styling tools can make your hair more fragile,” he says. Quarantine is a good time to give your blonde a break from heat styling, since your work and social engagements are limited.

When you do need your blonde hair to look stunning for a selfie or Zoom call, Etoyan says it’s okay to pick up the blowdryer or waving iron—just make sure you take precautions.

“For blonde hair, I recommend using the Cicaplasm Hair Primer, which protects your hair up to 230°C—you only need a little bit.”

Even if you’re not going out, giving your blonde hair a good
blow dry can lift your spirits, especially if your hair is staying
strong and healthy with Blond Absolu.

Tips to look after your blonde hair:

Aftercare is integral to maintaining blonde hair. Alongside toning shampoo and conditioner, changes to your regular routine and extra protection ensures that your hair stays salon bright. Kérastase ambassadors and experts give their blonde hair advice.

Toning Products.

Sunshine, chlorine and sea water can all affect blonde hair colour. Toning products work to neutralise brassy tones and illuminate hair, renewing radiance with every use. Because of their ability to address everyday stress on colour, toning formulas are some of the best blonde hair care products.

Heat Protection.

Heat styling tools can compromise strand structure and encourage colour loss. However frequently or infrequently you use heated tools, blonde heat protectants like Blond Absolu Cicaplasme Hair Primer should be applied to hair beforehand. When blow-drying, straightening, curling or even when in the sun for prolonged periods, protectants are an important step in looking after blonde hair.

Treatments.

Loss of moisture is common during the hair lightening process. Conditioning treatments like hair masks, hair repair oils and leave-in creams are fortifying and ultra-moisturising. Especially post-treatment, blonde hair products like Blond Absolu Cicanuit Night Serum should be rotated with your hair conditioner.

Wash Hair Less.

Hair pigments can fade through repeated washing. After going blonde, aim to wash your hair a maximum of once or twice per week. This helps to retain the natural oils which protect hair colour. When you do wash your hair, always use blonde hair care products and rinse with lukewarm water.
